TNG....TOO

That's right, you read correctly. We are opening a SECOND location! We plan to open December 5th, but check this blog for updates throughout the month of November! (or you can take the Green Line down University and see for yourself!) We wanted to start our coverage of TNG2 with the people who have helped craft our brand since day one....Kate and Stefan from Ideas that Kick!

Meet Kate and Stefan, our brand gurus/design geniuses from Ideas that Kick! They were with us from the very beginning of the The Naughty Greek, helping us create a brand that reflected our values and food, and we are so excited that they are a part of the TNG2 journey. They do amazing work, so we thought they should tell you about it!

Kate and Stefan: “The most important thing for TNG2 is to carry over the feeling of the first restaurant but to work with the character of thebuilding and the new space. If you don’t, you are doing a disservice to the neighborhood and the business. TNG is not a chain, and we want to create an authentic space that reflects that. This new, large space allows Angelo and his team to serve even more people authentic Greek food, in a sit-down setting. This allows people to gather and talk and eat, which is a huge part of the greek culture. We are not an interior design firm, but we are a marketing and experience firm that helps create a cohesive brand. Angelo is responsible for making the best food possible, and we want the design, artwork, and space to reflect that. The coolest part about working with TNG has been seeing it go from A-Z, and getting to help with every milestone.”

It's going to be a Naughty Summer!

A lot has gone down since our last update as we transition into summer! Speaking of summer, we have added THREE new tables outside TNG, because more customers + warm weather make our world go round! It's not Greece, but it's something! (it's actually Selby.)

Eat.Drink.Dish

Sure, patio seats are nice, but our feature on Eat.Drink.Dish is even cooler! TNG got its five minutes of fame when the hottest instagram in the Twin Cities (source: CityPages) paid us a visit! Our pork gyro felt like a real movie star, posing for cameras left and right. We never doubted Eat.Drink.Dish's status, but they proved they were deserving of the coveted #1 instagram spot when they stood on our chairs to get a better shot.  We'll be featured on their social media throughout the month, check out that dedication below!

That's dedication!

That's dedication!

Staff Spotlights

Since our last blog we have had not one, not two, but THREE staff spotlights featured on our social media. Joe, Jana and Angelo are the glue that holds the Naughty team together....check them out below!

Jana

"I have known angelo for about ten years or so, and when he said he was starting TNG, I knew I had to be a part of it. My husband and I are both chefs, and we have had a catering business for 17 years, so this felt like a perfect fit! I do a little bit of everything here, primarily the prep work, sometimes I think of new recipes, but that's mostly Angelo! I really love the people I get to work with here, and our amazing customers! I actually live out in wayzata and commute here everyday, which I think speaks to how much I love the atmosphere and the staff of TNG! What's something fun about me? Hmm. I have four kids but I don't know how fun that is"

Joe

"I got into this business a long time ago, when I was 15 and my best friend's dad started a restaurant in Minneapolis. I began cooking around town, and went to the Culinary Institute of America to pursue my passion. I ended up becoming a chef at the same restaurant where I had discovered my love of cooking as a teenager, and eventually started my own restaurant called Joe's Garage. I later became part owner of 4 Bells, and opened up a few other restaurants before stumbling upon TNG....and I'm so glad I did! It has been really great working here, in a thriving community that really supports small businesses. I have definitely learned a lot...I now know how to make a gyro from scratch! I love working with Angelo and such a great staff, and learning about the thriving Greek community in the Twin Cities! I've discovered that authenticity comes from the little things, like fries in a gyro, or no romaine in a Greek Salad. It's been a really neat experience"

Angelo

"I started TNG because I miss authentic Greek food, and I want to share my love and passion for it with others. I try hard to represent the cuisine as traditionally and authentically as possible, and my goal is to spread an appreciation of it throughout the Twin Cities. In order for food to be authentic, the ingredients need to be fresh, and the recipes need to be straight from Greece. I was inspired to open TNG by my father, who also opened a restaurant after finishing his career. It's located in the most magical village in Greece, in a walled city with no cars. He bought a house in the center of the marketplace and transformed it into the restaurant I grew up in. So far, the most rewarding part of this experience has been the people...I get hugs from customers, that's amazing! I am so thankful that the Greek community and the neighborhood have embraced us, it means so much to me. It has been difficult at times, but so rewarding as well"

This Blog is cool, but check out some of our new site pages!

Naughty Update!

Since we opened in November, a lot has been happening here at The Naughty Greek! We have added some great new menu options, including a mouth-watering spinach pie (included for your viewing pleasure below,) and a homemade ground beef and lamb kebab....come check them out!

Spinach pie!

In other news, we have started our new Student Tuesdays! Come on in from 7-close for 25% off a gyro, side, and drink! You must have your student ID in order to receive the discount, please don't try and fool us if you are just an extra young looking adult!

Speaking of students, our wonderful cashier Millie was our staff spotlight of the week! Even though Millie works with us here at the Naughty Greek, she is SO nice....maybe one of the nicest people we have ever met! When she's not busy helping customers, Millie studies economics and geography at Macalester College, and just got back from a semester abroad in Senegal! She loves working at TNG because 1. "it's awesome" and 2. the pork gyros remind her of the meat she would eat growing up on her farm in Southwestern Iowa. Takeaways from this post: Millie is pretty cool, come visit her sometime soon! Her smiling face can be seen below!

We love to interact with our customers, both in person and through social media! This past week, we held a photo contest on instagram using the hashtag #thebigfeta. Two winners were chosen (see their great snaps below,) and they will both get a free gyro, side and drink next time they visit us! We will be doing a lot more contests in the future, so follow us on instagram for the chance to win!!

Before we depart (the gyros are calling!) we wanted to announce that we now cater! Let us make your next event a success with our delicious, fresh, and local ingredients. Whether it's the office or a graduation party, our friendly staff will be able to make your vision a reality! Email thenaughtygreek1@gmail.com for pricing/orders.
